Mt. Olive Memories...A journey through our DIY home improvement [Before, During, and some After Photos]

Welcome to Busy Corner Designs and Bake Shop! I am very excited about this blogging adventure and I will admit...a little terrified! I've never been one for words, so please be patient with me as I learn how to produce a successful blog and hopefully inspire others with my posts.

I really don't know where to begin or even what to write about, so why you ask, am I starting a blog? AGAIN I might add!  I love to share...I'm just not sure how to share in written form! Ha! I am always afraid one of my former teachers will print off the post, correct my mistakes with a red pen and scan it and send it back to me! Ha!

Our family is in the process of moving into a new (to us) home out in the country. There were a few things that we wanted to do to the house before moving in, so I thought I would share a few before, during, and after photos with you.

CAUTION: I have a nice new camera but don't know how to use it! I PROMISE to utilize my "Photography" board on Pinterest one of these days. I'm putting that on my list of things to do after we move.

Here is a photo of the front porch area before we painted it. We still have some work to do on the dormer windows, before they can be painted, so an updated photo will be coming later.

Did you notice the garage at the far end of the house doesn't have siding on the lower portion? We had a sweet little man and his crew come out and brick it in for us. We are so happy with the results.
It looks much better, huh?

We wanted a nice clean look for the siding, so we chose a similar color scheme. I like to use neutral colors, because I am prone to changing the color of my rockers, cushions, pillows, and accessories on a whim?

I LOVE color...It makes my heart smile!

It was kind of cloudy the day these photos were taken but I will try to get some better photos soon.

Siding:

I bought the pillows and chair cushions in the Walmart Garden Center. Learning to sew is also on my list of things to do as soon as we get settled in. I also plan to utilize my Pinterest board, "I Need To Learn How to Sew...ONE DAY!"

We will get to the landscape later...

The front door...although a nice door, it was lacking in pizzazz...did I mention that I LOVE color?

I painted the door with

SW6941 Nifty Turquoise

SW  6941 Nifty Turquoise

It was VERY BRIGHT before I distressed with Minwax Wood Sheen-Colonial Walnut.

The look on my husband's face was priceless, when he saw the "during" stage of the door. I can't repeat exactly what he said! LOL. There was mention of the Clampett's and a few other pitchfork toting TV characters. He loves the finished door. You be the judge for yourself....
I know...I know. The planters will get attention soon!

I got my inspiration for my front door from a post on Pinterest. I fell in love with this door immediately  I LOVE everything about it!

Okay, I am sure I have bored you enough for one day. For someone that is unusually not great at expressing herself in written form; I sure did get long-winded  I do hope you come back again to join me in this exciting journey.
 Until next time....

Warm Wishes,
Jennifer

P.S. Please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think so far.
